Pre-requisite Course(s): MATE 419. In addition to MATE 419 i) the student should also qualify for graduation within maximum two semesters including the semester this course is taken and ii) all first & second year courses must have been taken and succeeded. However, this requirement may be waived for a maximum of three non-MATE first & second year courses, and is subjected to the approval of the Department.
Objective: The objective of this course is to get senior level Materials Engineering students to work on a project supervised by a departmental faculty member. The students will work alone or in a team, and find an opportunity to apply their knowledge gained on materials process and test systems design, materials processing and modeling, material selection for specific engineering applications, feasibility analysis, etc
Content: A capstone project supervised by a department faculty member on the applications of the knowledge gained on metallurgical/materials process and test systems design, materials modeling, material selection for specific engineering applications, feasibility analysis, etc. A comprehensive report and a presentation on the subject are required
