Objective: This course aims to give a detailed overview of nonferrous extractive metallurgy.
Content: General principles of extraction and refining of nonferrous metals. Pretreatment processes, thermodynamics and kinetics of roasting. Extraction of metals like copper, zinc and lead from their ores and concentrates by pyrometallurgical and/or hydrometallurgical methods. Refining of these metals. Examples to pyrometallurgical extraction processes. Gaseous reduction. Gaseous reduction of metal oxides.
