Objective: The objective of the course is to give students fundamentals and practical aspects of production, refining and electrochemical processing of metals.
Content: Generalised treatment of thermodynamic and kinetic principles of pretreatment, reduction, smelting, matte smelting, refining hydrometallurgical and electrochemical processes. Principles and practice of production of lead, zinc, copper, aluminum. Reversible electrode potentials, polarization, recovery of metals from aqueous and fused salt solutions. Electrorefining, electroplating, electropolishing processes, anodizing and integral coloring.
